Lake Benson Park - Garner, NC

Writer: PeterPeter

While these first pictures have snow, that should all be changing this week! šŸ˜šŸ™Œ And this weekend, while we were out in Garner for another event, we stopped by Lake Benson Park and were reminded what a wonderful spot it is for a day outdoors.

As everyone knows, so many parks, so little time, and the last time we were here was all the way back during COVID when playgrounds were shut down. šŸ˜± (A few throwback photos to our last visit have been added at the end.)

Since then, Lake Benson has gotten new playground equipment and best of all, it has SHADE. When you enter the park and head all the way to the back, you will find the main play area next to a large covered pavilion (I flaked and didnā€™t take a photo of the pavilion if you can believe it šŸ„“). There are also a few trees that provide shade by the playground as well.

Besides for the main playground, there are a number of short trails through the wooded area at the back of the park, labeled with different color squares, that are great for kids.

Other than the main playground, there are a few other small play areas scattered around the park.

And last, but not least, is the beautiful Lake Benson. Watercraft is not permitted to be launched onto the lake, but fishing IS allowed.

A few other logistics:

- Main playground is mulch.

- Bathrooms available were port-o-potties.

- Some walkways/trails at the park are stroller friendly, but not all.

- Overall a lot of parking, but some lots are small and you might have to park a little further away at times. People also park along the main road in and out of the park.

- Dog park.

- Lots of open space to run around.

- Beautiful veterans memorial right when you enter the park.

Have you made it out to Lake Benson? Let us know in the comments!
