Brentwood Park - Raleigh, NC

Writer: PeterPeter

We found a new park that we’re adding to our “winter collection”: Brentwood Park in Raleigh!

While we’re still experiencing unseasonably warm temperatures, with the cooler months coming, we’ve begun to think about our “winter collection” or our winter parks. For us, we generally lump our playgrounds into winter parks and summer parks. Our summer parks are spots with good shade that help us beat the heat. But in the winter, there’s nothing better than soaking up those unadulterated rays to get a little warmth.

We discovered Brentwood back in May when things were really heating up, and due to its lack of shade, we weren’t able to stay out too long. But we knew then this would be a great winter park spot!

While this park is small with a few sports fields, what we really loved here was how secluded it felt tucked back in a neighborhood. If you need a place to get away from people, on a weekday this might be a good option!

A few logistics:

• Stroller friendly with sidewalks and a paved walkway around the sports field.

• Squishy, playground ground, but playground is surrounded by grass and mulchy areas in its outskirts.

• A few accessible features on the playground, like an accessible merry-go-round, disk swing, and some low-to-the-ground play equipment.

• There is a water mister at the playground, but it is likely that will be turned off during the winter.

• Small parking lot.

• Bathrooms right at the playground, part of a covered pavilion with picnic tables.

• There is a neighborhood center here available for rent, but generally not open to the public.

• There are some beautiful flowering plants around the park, especially by the neighborhood center.
