🚂🚂 Choo choo! All aboard! 🚂🚂
Today’s post is inspired by 1.) these lower temps that I’m hoping will stay around this time and are motivating me to get back to sharing parks, and 2.) Raleigh Family Adventure’s reel about places for your train-obsessed kids. Welcome to Davis Drive Park in Cary!
This is one of those parks that I feel like my subconscious has prevented me from posting about until now because, unless you are using the park’s athletic fields or live nearby, it is a bit of a sweet hidden gem in the Cary Parks system.
The metal train climbing structure right by the playground entrance is a highlight of this park for us. We also like that it is fairly well surrounded by trees, so this leads to some good shade.
This park also has a soft spot in my heart because it’s one of the first I brought the kids to after Ruth was born, and when we came, I was just absolutely disheveled. Some other moms there could read the room and were so nice and shared their snacks with us (my postpartum brain had, of course, forgotten snacks).
Other logistics:
Sand and mulch playground.
Multiple benches, many with shade.
Pavilion with picnic tables and bathrooms right by playground.
Greenway access with beautiful murals and boardwalk.
Fair amount of parking, but might fill up for fields use.
Admittedly, this isn’t a huge playground, but we love it all the same, and will frequently pair it with an HMart lunch trip, since that is right up the road.
Do you have a child who loves trains? Let us know in the comments! 🚂
