They’re ready for you!! 🌻
Summer is here and so are the sunflowers. The blooms are just getting going, but enough are open at this point that it’s time to go now or plan your visit!
The field is popular enough at this point that you can type “Sunflower Field” into Google Maps and it will take you straight to it. Dix Park has a few parking lots available for easy access to the sunflowers, but our preferred lot (which has access to an accessible walkway) is at the corner of Blair Dr. and Umstead Dr. Signage also directs you to parking.
New this year:
• Accessible walkway goes further around the sunflowers.
• More variety of colorful zinnias around the periphery of the sunflowers.
Other great [returning] features:
• The huge green astroturf couch is back!
• Swings by the field and parking lot.
• Tree-covered hammock area with picnic tables.
• Covered picnic shelters.
• Port-o-potties.
Today was a rare cooler summer day, and the days are only getting hotter. The best time to visit is as early in the morning as possible.
We also usually combine a visit to the sunflowers with a stop at the State Farmer’s Market Restaurant and/or the Farmer’s Market itself!
Last note: the flowers are not for picking. This is not a u-pick field. Please let them for everyone to enjoy.
