The colors at Lake Johnson right now are my Fall DREAM. đđ A walk on the parkâs long bridge leaves me in awe of the vibrant beauty that can be found in nature.
At Lake Johnson, youâll find a paved loop trail around the lake that is approximately 3 miles long. Weâve never made it very far beyond the bridge, but we hope to one day! đ
Youâll find 2 entrances to the park off Avent Ferry Road - one is very sparse with just parking, and the other has a boathouse area with rocking chairs, a dock, a small âbeachâ section, bathrooms, and Raleigh Parks facilities. We generally scooter a bit along the bridge and paved surfaces and then make our way back to the boathouse and beach. There are also some large rocks by the beach that Ruth loves to climb on.
Fishing is possible at the park, and thatâs something we hope to do in the future as well.
Along with the paved trail, there is also an unpaved trail that is about 1.5 miles, but thatâs also another feature we havenât explored yet and hope to do in the future.
Parking can be a bit of a challenge at times - the lot by the boathouse has narrow paths to drive through and we have generally found the lot to be mostly full when we go, but we do always seem to find a spot. However, if you canât find a spot, check the other previously mentioned lot down the road. It is very close to the other end of the bridge and shouldnât take much to get to the boathouse and beach from there if thatâs your destination.
