I don’t like to have to pay to go to the beach. I grew up about 10 minutes from one of the most beautiful beaches in the country, and it was free. While we don’t have traditional beaches here in the Triangle, we do have a few lake “beaches” that are good substitutes if you don’t want to schlep all the way to the coast. Now, on these warm days like we have coming up, is the time to stop by 2 of our favorite locations because they are currently FREE.
The first 4 photos in this post are from the Beaverdam Lake State Recreation Area on Falls Lake in Wake Forest, and the last 3 are from the Seaforth Recreation Area on Jordan Lake in Pittsboro.
Both of these locations have ample parking, a playground, bathrooms, picnic shelters, grills, and at least one nature trail to check out if you get tired of playing in the sand.
As mentioned previously, it’s currently free to go to these spots. Fees are charged Memorial Day through Labor Day, and weekends during April, May, and September.
Have you been to either of these lake beaches? Let us know in the comments!
