Summer doesn’t officially start until later in June, but with Memorial Day weekend now past us, it sure feels like summer has arrived. 🌞 And with that, we’re continuing our series on Jordan Lake and its great spots to spend your summer. Today’s location is the Ebenezer Church Day Use Area.
There’s a number of official “beaches” on Jordan Lake, but this one is our favorite. Ebenezer Church is a bit more tucked away from the main roads than some of the other lake beaches, and it truly makes all the difference. Besides for the official beach area you see in this first photo (which is all the way at the back of the day use area), there are a number of other spots at the site where you can also access the water for swimming or fishing.
Besides for the water, there’s a playground, volleyball net, short trails, and boat ramps. There are also multiple areas with pavilions and picnic tables, and grills, too. Bathrooms are available by the main beach area, the boat ramps, and one other pavilion at the site. There is plenty of parking, too.
Our one knock on this location is there’s significantly less shade here than Jordan Lake’s other beaches we’ve been to, like Seaforth and Parkers Creek. At those locations, shady areas with picnic tables are right by the beach, but not so with this location. (This made me happy we went on an overcast day. ☁️) Make sure to bring your sunblock, hat, and beach umbrella!
A final reminder, now that we are “in season,” Jordan Lake’s beaches do have a fee to enter. Most cars are $7 per day, senior citizens can get in for $5. Larger buses or vans cost more, and annual passes are available. These fees are daily through Labor Day. Then, through the rest of September, weekdays are free and fees are only charged on the weekends. Beginning in October, every day is free again.
