🚨 Morrisville Community Park’s completely renovated playground is now open! 🚨
We have a long history with this park, and first posted about it way back in May 2020 when playgrounds were closed due to COVID, but were enjoying the short, paved nature trail the park has, complete with a cool bridge. (The last photo here is a throwback from that post!)
We loved when the large dino stairs were part of the playground, but as the years went on, pieces kept breaking and it was clear it could use a refresh.
So anyway, on to the updates:
• The space previously had 2 large pieces of equipment, one for older kids and one for younger, on opposite sides of the park. The side that had the bigger kids piece has been replaced by the large rope-climbing structure you see in photo 2. (We’ve seen these type of structures more and more in new playgrounds these days.) What was previously the smaller kids side is now what you see in photo 1.
• The playground still has squishy ground, but it has been repoured and is fresh.
• More accessible features have been added, such as a roller slide, accessible incline ramp, and a transfer-level merry-go-round.
• Swings have been updated to include accessible swings and tandem swings.
• I am sad the stand-alone, old school riding wiggle things (I have no clue what they are actually called 😂), that were a frog, whale, and duck, were removed.
• Small covered shelter in the middle with 4 picnic tables remains. No larger shade structures were added, so this will continue to be better as a winter park due to the lack of shade.
• It was only the playground that got renovated, so all the fields, the large pavilion, nearby bathroom, workout area, little free library, and paved walkways remain.
