IT’S BACK! One of our favorite events of the year, Sculpture in the Garden at the North Carolina Botanical Garden, is here for its 34th year now through December 4th.
We love the Botanical Garden on a regular day, but this event always takes it to a new level with sculptures placed throughout the site. There are over 75 sculptures this year, and some are even interactive with sound (the cardinal sculpture pictures here), or challenging you to find parts of it throughout the garden (one tasks you with finding 50 frog sculptures in the garden).
Many of the sculptures are by local artists, and some are even for sale. This is our third year attending the event, and it is also a lot of fun to see new pieces from artists whose work we saw in previous years.
Some logistics:
• FREE, but donations are accepted.
• The Botanical Garden is only open 1-5pm on Sundays and totally CLOSED Mondays. Other days hours are 9-5.
• Bathrooms are available in the Visitors Center, and in at least 1 other location out in the garden. There is also a Mother’s Room by the bathrooms in the Visitors Center if you need a break or a place to nurse.
• Stroller friendly - the gravel is fairly hard-packed here, and we’ve made it through using a stroller the last 2 years.
• Don’t forget to get the free kids scavenger hunt activity sheet, which should be available by the Sculpture in the Garden info sheets by the Visitors Center.
It was honestly so hard to narrow this post down to 10 photos with all the amazing art. Have you been to Sculpture in the Garden this year? Let us know your favorite piece in the comments!
