Welcome to a very special Sunday edition of Peter & Ruth Do Parks. The kids (and who are we kidding, me too) were over the moon to go to the grand opening of the Town of Apex’s Pleasant Park this weekend. I have been stalking this park for A LONG time, and it was so nice to finally get to experience it.
The playground area, the Enchanted Forest, is massive. It was hard to get good photos because there is literally so much. Enormous play structures for all ages. Squishy ground. Swings and other swinging structures. Some accessibility features, like an accessible merry-go-round and areas where a wheelchair could be walked onto the playground equipment. A natural play area. A sand pit. A reading nook. A splash pad for the summer. It goes on and on. I’m going to post some videos in our stories and urge you to take a look because the videos are probably a better way to get the whole picture of how amazing the features are here.
The park also has multiple field areas, as well as pickleball courts, to accommodate the town’s expanding sports leagues.
Shelters and seating areas are also aplenty, and a shelter with a bathroom is not far from the playground area. I appreciated that there are many tables and benches, as well as small concrete walls that can be used for sitting.
The only knock I have on this playground is that there is almost zero shade. This is going to be a great playground for the cooler months, but I imagine it will get brutal in the height of summer.
Overall, we love this bright, colorful, fun-filled new addition to the Triangle’s parks.
