Rock Ridge Park - Pittsboro, NC

🚨New Playground Alert! 🚨

I know it’s rainy this week, but even with that, we’re starting to see lower temps and I finally feel energized to try to post more regularly again. So I’m excited to share about this new playground in Pittsboro at Rock Ridge Park that we checked out with friends over the summer.

This neat, nature-themed playground is nestled back in the woods making it a nice hidden gem. Once you arrive at the park, drive down a dirt road until you see a small gravel parking lot and some signage letting you know you’ve arrived. Then take the paved trail about a 5-minute walk to the right and you’ll arrive at the mulch playground.

We very much loved the shade of this park, some of the unique play equipment, including a zip line, and the picnic table and seating options.

Admittedly, the park did have 2 downsides that stuck out, the first being that there is no bathroom at the playground. There was a port-o-potty in the parking lot, but that is obviously not ideal and is a distance away.

The second is what we thought was a questionable choice on one piece of the playground equipment. As you can see in the last photo, there’s an opening at the top which is there because you’re able to climb up, but for littler kids, this kind of felt like a gaping hole where someone could fall out. I’m sure most kids will be fine, but just keep an eye on the smaller kids with that.

On the whole, we really did love this park, though, and will likely be back in the future!

Lastly, Pittsboro might be a bit of a drive for some in the Triangle, but make a day out of it! We went to lunch at a sweet little diner in downtown after a morning at the park, and there are also little shops to visit.
